ENCORE Rotation #2 Reader’s Theater Musical

The students in Mrs. Ortquist’s and a few from Mr. Greene’s class have been working on 10 Singing Skills. This will help us with performance quality when we present “SLIS or SLIS?” on Wednesday, December 3rd at 11:30am in the middle school choir room. Welcome to ENCORE Rotation #2!

The students in Mrs. Ortquist’s and some students from Mr. Greene’s class have just started the general music ENCORE rotation. We have just started a composition project that focuses on steady beat, rhythm, ensemble, and creativity. The instrument we are using is simply a plastic cup! I can’t wait to see and hear what the students create! This is a graded project and you can view you child’s rubric for this and other class work in early December.

Encore Group #1 Presents “SLIS or SLIS?”

The students in Mrs. O’Donnell’s ENCORE rotation #1 will present a reader’s theater musical in the middle school choir room on Tuesday, October 14 at 11:35am. You are welcome to attend this informal presentation. I will have one extra practice on Monday, October 13 from 4-5:30 in the choir room. Please attend if you are able!

5th Grade ENCORE Preview

Greetings 5th grade students and families! My name is Mrs. Ireland and I am the general music ENCORE teacher for 5th grade at SLIS. I am looking forward to a great 2008-2009 school year!

Each class will have general music every day for approximately 7 weeks, starting in October. I will post updates about what we are doing in class to this page. Each ENCORE general music rotation will conclude with a short in-class informal performance. The time for each performance will be 11:30am and dates will be announced at the beginning of each 7 week rotation. Check this page frequently when your child has music for his/her ENCORE rotation.

At the end of the ENCORE music rotation,you will receive a report in the mail from me with the details about your child’s work on class projects and participation. Please contact me if you have questions.
