Spring Lake Music

Join us as over 70 Holmes students show their talents in the Spring Lake High School auditorium at 7pm. Performers and emcees will meet Mrs. Ireland and Mrs. Berry in the seats on the right hand side at 6:50pm to get ready.

The 3rd grade classes were treated to an amazing concert by Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra musician, Bill Vits. We learned about percussion instruments from around the world, beat, and rhythm while listening and moving to lots of music. We even heard an instrument that was originally invented to be a burglar alarm! It is called a teremin.

All Holmes 3rd graders will travel to hear the wonderful Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, November 19. The focus of this concert will be on percussion and world music. What a special treat! Thank you Holmes families for supporting this trip through your fund-raising efforts.

All 1st through 4th grade students have been showing their Laker spirit and pride by singing the Laker Fight song in music class. We are so proud of our school community!

Welcome back wonderful 3rd graders! Here are some of the things we will be doing in music this year: our spring concert in May (lots of Michigan songs and skits!), composing our own music, singing and playing rounds and ostinatos (what in the world are those?), and playing our new monthly game – “Where in the World.” I am looking forward to seeing you all in music!
